Bioidentical Tissue Addition Technology

Tissue addition technology for the cornea presents an innovative approach that integrates healthy donor corneal tissue into the recipient's existing cornea, enhancing its structure and function. The Allotex TransForm™ allogenic corneal inlay is a piece of acellular cornea, a 20-micron-thick, 2.75 mm-diameter disc, shaped using an excimer laser and sterilized with electron beam radiation. The curvature and optical properties of the TransForm™ corneal inlay are meticulously designed to increase depth of focus (DoF), effectively improving close-range vision while preserving distance acuity, thus offering a natural solution for presbyopia.

A Safe and Reversible Procedure

The surgical procedure for the TransForm™ allograft involves creating a LASIK flap approximately 120 microns thick, which is then lifted to place the bioidentical corneal inlay directly over the pupil on the stromal bed. Once positioned, the flap is carefully repositioned, encapsulating the inlay beneath the surface. This procedure is entirely additive and reversible, with no ablation of corneal tissue, no lenticule extraction, and no alteration to the natural lens.
