Lumixyl is not like other lighteners that achieve effect through chemicals or irritating agents such as retinoids or Vitamin C. Rather, Lumixyl is a synthetic peptide composed of 10 amino acids. As a synthetic peptide, like a protein but shorter in length, Lumixyl is water soluble, non-irritating and easily degraded by the skin. Lumixyl does not topically bleach the skin nor does is it toxic to melanin cells, as is Hydroquinone. Lumixyl improves the appearance of hyperpigmentation by inhibiting tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for the production of melanin.
