Cellulite is a common condition affecting approximately 80% of American women according to the AAD (American Association of Dermatology).  Cellulite occurs in the buttocks and thighs due to estrogen production, but can also occur in the inner knees, hips, lower abdomen and under the arms.

The cellulite laser market is commonly a combination aesthetic treatment approach.  Many plastic surgeons use laser cellulite reduction along with liposuction to help patients achieve better results.  After liposuction, the subcutaneous fat may remain and cuase dimpling or unevenness of the skin.  Laser cellulite reduction is a good option for reducing the appearance of the dimples and providing body shaping.

In 2005, 300,000 laser cellulite procedures were performed in the U.S., representing an increase of 40.2% over 2004.  This increase is due to increased patient awareness and demand.  The cellulite reduction market is expected to grow at a category growth rate of 8.9% from 2006 to 2010, resulting in a total of 514,000 cellulite procedures performed in the U.S. by 2010.
