Q: Why is it important to control skin temperature?
A: Control of skin temperature is important for effective treatments. An integrated Thermo-Electric cooled sapphire crystal keeps the treatment area safe and cool. Skin surface temperature changes of 4°C can cause immediately observable differences in the clinical response. BBL is the only system that can set skin temperature accurately for any temperature from 0°C to 30°C during an entire procedure for unparalleled consistency and comfort.
Q: Why does the BBl use lower energy settings?
A: BBL delivers a pulse to tissue with precise on and off times and controlled irradiance. Many systems deliver only single or double pulses with extended low power tails below therapeutic levels resulting in higher than necessary fluence requirement for those systems. BBL square wave pulsing means there is no low energy tail and no wasted energy so fluence requirements are much less for the same treatment. The BBL pulse envelope is adjusted ten times within each pulse to achieve consistent, efficient results. BBL utilizes active feedback modulation up to 10 times per pulse to distribute energy evenly over the entire pulse width with a wide range of delivery times. Older technologies simply fire two short pulses with a delay between them to simulate longer pulses inefficiently.
Q: What can you treat with the BBL_ST

Most Frequently Asked Questions about Photorejuvenation
Q: What is it?
A: It is a series of gentle treatments that will gradually improve the texture of your skin, decrease redness and broken capillaries and also lighten dark spots on your skin. You may also notice that your pores may appear tighter and some fine lines may dissipate.
Q: Who can have it?
A: Males or females with broken capillaries, a flushed appearance, brown spots, enlarged pores, mild wrinkling, rosacea, freckles and hyperpigmentation.
Q: What areas can it done?
A: The face, chest, neck, upper back, forerms and hands are the most common areas.
Q: How does it work?
A: The Sciton-BBL Pulse Light Technology from 420 nm to 1200 nm light pulses into the skin. The colours in the light are attracted to the browns, reds and deeper collagen tissue. The heat generated from the light targets and vaporizes the browns, coagulates the reds and heats the collagen. The body's healing mechanisms take over and slough the browns, absorb the reds and thicken the collagen.
Q: How many treatments do I need?
A: The average is 3-5, usually one treatment every three weeks. Clients with brown or pigmented skin will notice a significant change after two treatments. Clients with reds or flushing will notice a significant change after three treatments. The final treatments will continue to improve the colour, texture and pore size..
Q: Does it hurt?
A: There is a mild stinging sensation but it is very tolerable. Your face will be covered with cold gel and it reduces the sensation.
Q: What can I expect after?
A: These sessions are designed to provide no down time. Your face may appear flushed it usually fades within a few hours. Clients with pigment may notice their browns appear darker after the treatment. This darkness takes on a "dirty look" until it flakes off in 7-10 days. Makeup can be used right after so you can return to work immediately. Sometimes a client can develop "purpura" or a bruise on the face. It does not hurt and will fade in about ten days. This bruising can be covered with makeup. If you have a lot of colour, browns or reds on cheeks and around eyes you may develop some slight swelling for a few days while the skin is healing.
Q: Who can not have these sessions?
A: Some medications and medical conditions can interfere with treatments so, your physician will review your history to assess your suitability. It is not recommended during pregnancy or if you have unrealistic expectations. These sessions can not be done on anyone with a tan.
Q: How long does a session take?
A: Generally a full face takes approximately 20- 30 minutes to complete. Larger areas will take a little longer, hands less time.
