The Aesthetic Opportunity

Key Drivers

The advent of minimally invasive treatments and procedures has fuelled a boom in the aesthetic industry.  More consumers are turning to their doctors for information about facial treatments and procedures.

In 2005, doctors in North America performed 11.4 million aesthetic procedures, a 100% increase from 2000.

The vast majority of procedures in Aesthetics are non-surgical or non-invasive (82%) and can be performed by General Practitioners.  Dermal Fillers are second only to Botox™ in the category.

The Global Dermal Filler market has increased 200% from the year 2000.  In 2005, the filler market increased 25% from 2004 and continues to grow.

Laser and Intense Pulsed Light treatments are another significant opportunity for Physicians.  Skin Rejuvenation, Skin Tightening and Hair Removal represent over 70% of these procedures.

Between 2004 and 2009, Skin Rejuvenation and Hair Removal procedures will increase by over 200%.

Aesthetics- It Makes Sense

For the Canadian Practitioner, complementing a family medicine practice by offering non-invasive cosmetic procedures makes a great deal of sense.  These low-risk procedures are simple to perform, result in near universal satisfaction for the client and will provide you with a substantial alternative source of income.

Non-invasive aesthetic procedures represent a huge opportunity for the Canadian Physician.
